General Information On Aclovate Cream

Aclovate Cream is prescribed for the treatment of several skin conditions like rash, allergies, dermatitis, psoriasis and eczema. The generic name of the medication is Alclometasone Topical. It belongs to the class of topical steroids known as corticosteroids.

Aclovate Cream works by reducing the actions of various chemicals responsible for causing redness, itching, swelling and inflammation. It also modifies the body’s immune reactions against skin infections. Aclovate Cream is administered externally over the infected areas. The cream is available in three different sizes- Aclovate Cream 0.05% 15g tubes, Aclovate Cream 0.05% 45g tubes, and Aclovate Cream 0.05% 60g tubes.

The active ingredient in Aclovate Cream is alclometasone dipropionate. In addition, the inactive ingredients in the cream include:

  • White petrolatum
  • Glyceryl stearate
  • Cetearyl alcohol
  • Phosphoric acid
  • Propylene alcohol
  • Chlorocresol
  • PEG 100 stearate
  • Monobasic sodium phosphate
  • Water

Side effects of Aclovate Cream

Patients with a hypersensitivity to alclometasone or any other ingredient in this topical drug should not buy Aclovate Cream.

Dosage of Aclovate Cream

Aclovate Cream should be applied in the form of a thin film 2-3 times a day over the infected areas and thoroughly massaged into the skin.

For children over the age of 1, the medication must not be used for more than 3 weeks. The drug must not be used for the treatment of diaper rash and should also never be administered in children below the age of 1.

Any contact of Aclovate Cream with the eyes, nose, underarms and other sensitive areas must be avoided. The area to be treated must not be bandaged or covered after application. It is important to wash your hands before and after applying Aclovate Cream.

Interactions

Aclovate Cream is not known to interact with any other drug. However, you must inform your doctor about any prescription, over the counter, or herbal drugs you are taking. These also include vitamins, minerals, and health supplements.
