Advair Inhaler is indicated for the prevention of asthma attacks. This drug is also used for preventing COPD or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease associated with emphysema and/or chronic bronchitis.
The generic name of this drug is Fluticasone and Salmeterol. While Fluticasone falls under the category of drugs known as anti-inflammatory corticosteroid, Salmeterol is a bronchodilator. Fluticasone reduces flaring within the airways and Salmeterol works by relaxing the muscles surrounding the airways.

The amount of Salmeterol per inhalation is the same in all three strengths, that is, 21 mcg of Salmeterol per inhalation.
The recommended Advair Inhaler dosage is 2 inhalations per day. A higher dosage is generally not advisable as some patients may experience side effects due to an increased dosage. However, the actual dosage may vary from patient to patient. You should take your medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
Your doctor is likely to prescribe a lower strength of Advair in the initial stages of treatment. If there is no adequate improvement in your condition after two weeks, he/she may prescribe a higher dose.
